Hot Mess of an Identity Essay

I was at an interview to become a volunteer at the Cincinnati Zoo, and I felt beyond nervous. I have always been a shy person who literally shook in one-on-one interview conditions, and this was no different. After a couple of minutes, a woman got on the small stage at the front of the room. She explained that the interview would be more like team bonding than an actual interview. She explained that we would be sorted into small groups, and each group would be given a task or challenge, and that we should just be ourselves. I felt a sudden, spontaneous surge of confidence flow through me. I had prepared myself to be picked apart in a one-on-one discussion, not for games. But I never considered myself an artist. That was a term used for people who had perfected their craft, who were organized, and were always successful in their work. Artists were classy, smart, snobbish people who seemed to find unnecessary value in everything. But since the beginning of my Sophomore year, where I decided to take drawing a bit more seriously, I learned that I could not be more wrong.  While art takes many forms, I focused on drawing and visual art. This was partially a choice of my own to teach myself a new talent, and partially influenced by my friends, most of whom were artists. Technical Divisions

    Danny Creelman     Mrs. Dunsten Hoover     AP Language     2nd October 2019 When one thinks of theater, their mind might often travel to dramatic monologues, massive dance numbers and final bows. However, there is much more to putting on a show than acting. Numerous technical aspects can be found in a show, from set pieces to costumes. While managing the technical aspects of a show might seem complicated at first, it can easily be split up into multiple categories. No one category is more important than the other, but some are more visible than others.  The most noticeable technical aspect of the show is often the set. The set provides a backdrop for the show to take place in, as well as a place for the actors to interact and bring the show alive in. It is designed, built, and painted by the scenic crew. Designing a set takes time, for each piece often is made with thought for what the show is about. After...
