Just Trying to Pass Through (Narrative)

Road Closed. While I was still new to driving, I knew that those words were not good news. I was on my way to the zoo drop off my Prox Card (it’s like an electronic key that I use to open the door to where we keep the animals that we bring out for guests to interact with). I sighed and flicked on my turn signal to go left into a side street.
“Oh No”. The street was a clogged asphalt artery, with cars parked on either side. There must have been an event going on, and that street seemed to be a prime parking space. Towards the end of the street, one car was parked slightly too far out, turning the street into a one way road. The parking did nothing to help the other cars who were, just like me, trying to pass through. As I pulled up behind the car parked too far out, a bus started to pass through in the opposite direction. Other cars were unable to pull over, and we found ourselves gridlocked. My mind started to race, but before I could panic too much, I heard a voice:
“Now you, pull over here. You’re going to have to pull into this driveway, and make room for this car as well”
Our traffic savior had come in the form of a middle aged woman, with her hair in a towel and in her pajamas. I quickly pulled into the spot she directed me too, and the bus slowly passed us, inches away from my car.
After the bus passed, she tapped on my window and asked me to “Whip outta there so we can get to where the hell we all need to go” (A direct quote). Shaking, I drove away, and I finally got to the zoo parking lot.
